Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Azrieli Malls are revealing a new survey that examined the shopping habits of Israelis, while simultaneously launching a promotion in which a purchase of 399 shekels or more entitles shoppers to a 50 shekel gift card, while supplies last. In addition, 10 gift cards worth 2,500 shekels each are being raffled off every day.

The survey, conducted by the Sapio research institute, shows that 42% of Israelis plan to buy a gift for themselves ahead of the holiday. 39% plan to purchase a gift for their spouse, 36% are thinking about their parents, and 33% invest mainly in gifts for their children.

Regarding the types of gifts, housewares and home design lead with 32%. Following them are perfume and clothing (31% each), wine and alcoholic beverages (27%), and gift cards (25%).

For a quarter of Israelis, choosing a holiday gift is not difficult. Among those who struggle, 20% note difficulty finding a suitable gift for their spouse, and 14% struggle with choosing for their parents.

The survey also indicates that holiday shopping is not perceived only as a task. 50% of Israelis define going to the mall as a combination of a task and leisure, and 15% see it primarily as leisure. 41% go shopping with their spouse, while 40% prefer to go alone.

These habits are reflected in the new Rosh Hashanah campaign of Azrieli Malls, which connects shopping, gifts, and renewal.

"Rosh Hashanah is naturally a moment of new beginnings and renewal. The research we conducted indicates that alongside giving gifts, 40% of Israelis choose to renew themselves with a gift as well. We decided that our gift would allow the consumer a full choice to start the new year in the way that suits them best," stated Zvia Orenstein-Kassan, VP of Marketing and Digital at the Azrieli Group.

The survey also examined what Israelis would do with a sum of 2,500 shekels. 63% would use the money for themselves, 46% for their spouse, 41% for their children, and 37% for their parents. Clothing is the leading choice for the win (47%), followed by home appliances and footwear (30% each).

The promotion runs in all Azrieli Malls across the country from September 3 to September 8, or until supplies last. Subject to the regulations on the Azrieli Malls website.
