The growing fear among many workers of losing their jobs to artificial intelligence systems is now receiving an unexpected perspective from the most powerful man in the industry. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang clarifies that the race to develop advanced language models requires the construction of what he calls "AI factories."

According to him, this process has already begun to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs, but contrary to expectations, they are not intended for programmers, but rather for electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and construction workers who will need to build these facilities. Behind the virtual magic of the high-tech world lies a critical need for massive physical data centers, complex cooling systems, and enormous energy infrastructure. Huang recently defined the current period as one of the largest infrastructure build-outs in human history, which is generating an unprecedented surge in demand for manual laborers.

Data on the ground indeed supports this approach, as international companies building data centers are preparing to quadruple their workforce at their construction sites by the end of 2026. Despite the optimism, the growing demand simultaneously exposes an employment crisis on the ground. Estimates in the United States indicate that by the end of the decade, a severe shortage of more than two million workers in skilled technical professions could emerge.

To address the looming crisis, giants like Google, Ford, and leading investment firms have recently initiated strategic collaborations aimed at encouraging and expanding vocational training paths around the world. As a reminder, just recently Nvidia illustrated the scale of this expansion when it committed to a potential massive investment of up to 105 billion dollars to build a massive data center in Ohio. The ambitious project alone has already begun to create a thirst for professionals, and offers in some positions an impressive monthly salary that crosses the 35,000 shekel threshold, and these figures prove once again how the technological leap depends more than ever on traditional manual labor.
