An indictment was filed against a 29-year-old resident of Bi'ina, after, according to the police, he attempted to flee from a checkpoint near Karmiel together with his wife, who during the escape threw a loaded pistol from the vehicle. The investigation into the wife in the case is still ongoing.

The incident occurred on June 28 in the evening hours, during the activity of Northern District police officers on Highway 804. A vehicle that arrived from the direction of Highway 85 passed Karmiel and proceeded toward the police checkpoint. According to the police, the occupants of the vehicle noticed the officers, stopped at a distance from them, and subsequently proceeded slowly in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

When the vehicle arrived near the patrol car, one of the officers noticed a 9mm ammunition round at the feet of the front passenger seat. According to the indictment, at this stage, the husband attacked the officer and pushed him in an attempt to obstruct his work.

It is further alleged that the husband ordered his wife to flee the scene and throw away the weapon, and at the same time released the handbrake and shifted the gear stick to drive mode. The woman began to drive away from the scene wildly, and during the drive threw an FN-type pistol from the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, she was arrested by the forces. The pistol was located and seized while loaded with a magazine and ammunition rounds. The husband was arrested and his detention was extended from time to time. At the end of the investigation, the Haifa District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against him to the Haifa District Court. The investigation into his wife is ongoing. According to the police, since the beginning of the year, more than 570 weapons have been seized in the Northern District.
