As the 26th Knesset elections approach, the political campaign is intensifying across social media platforms, with candidates and parties injecting hundreds of thousands of shekels into digital advertising.
Digital Campaign Spending Leaders
According to data from journalist Daphna Liel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leads the digital spending with 731,270 shekels over the past month. Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid rank second under the Be-yachad joint list, spending 461,183 shekels, closely followed by Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot with 404,416 shekels. Avigdor Lieberman and Yair Golan take the fourth and fifth spots with 253,242 and 224,300 shekels respectively, while Ofer Winter rounds out the list with 219,926 shekels.
Cost-Efficiency and Russian-Language Media
Another metric examined the ratio between advertising expenditure and digital reach. For instance, Netanyahu spent between 100,000 and 125,000 shekels on specific ads garnering over a million views, whereas Yair Lapid invested between 175,000 and 200,000 shekels for a similar reach.
"Gadi Eisenkot invests a particularly modest sum of 4,000 shekels while achieving a relatively high exposure of 700,000 to 800,000 views."
An interesting metric analyzed expenditures on Russian-language social media pages by Netanyahu and Lieberman. Netanyahu spent 91,649 shekels, while Lieberman slightly edged him out with 92,071 shekels, highlighting the fierce competition for specific demographic segments.
