MK Matan Kahana Claims Yashar! Party is in Talks with Likud Defectors
MK Matan Kahana announced that the Yashar! party is in contact with potential Likud defectors, highlighting potential coalition vulnerabilities.

MK Matan Kahana of the Yashar! party stated on Monday that his political faction is in contact with potential defectors from the ruling Likud party.
Speaking in an interview with local media, Kahana claimed that Likud lawmakers are maintaining active communication channels with party leadership. According to him, opposition figures maintain closer dialogue with certain coalition members than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does.
This statement follows recent press reports indicating that Gadi Eisenkot's circle recognizes how a large-party campaign could force Netanyahu into a similar strategy. Unlike the opposition bloc, the coalition led by Netanyahu is fragmented across multiple factions, some of which hover near the electoral threshold.
Political analysts note this vulnerability includes Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism party as well as Ofer Winter's faction. A strengthened Likud campaign risks draining crucial votes from these smaller allied parties, potentially reshaping the parliamentary landscape ahead of the upcoming elections.
