Jerry Seinfeld to Auction Historic 1968 Rolex Daytona at Phillips
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is auctioning a historic 1968 Rolex Daytona at Phillips in New York. The rare timepiece, once awarded to racing driver Vic Elford, is expected to fetch up to $200,000.

The renowned comedian Jerry Seinfeld is putting up for auction a unique piece from his personal watch collection: a Rolex Daytona with an extraordinary historical backstory. The timepiece, expected to generate immense interest among luxury and automotive enthusiasts, is not just a collector's item but a tangible piece of racing heritage.
The upcoming auction will take place at the prestigious Phillips auction house in New York, offering a rare glimpse into the exclusive world of high-end collecting.
A Historic Racing Legacy
The uniqueness of the watch lies in its remarkable provenance: it is the very first Rolex Daytona ever officially awarded to a winning racing driver. The prestigious prize was presented to driver Vic Elford following his historic victory at the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona.
The fact that this is a first-of-its-kind artifact makes it exceptionally desirable for global collectors, brilliantly combining luxury craftsmanship with deep-rooted sporting history.
Reuniting Car and Watch
However, the journey of the timepiece did not end there. In 2010, Elford sold the watch to an individual who had acquired the actual winning race car from the historic event.
Later on, Jerry Seinfeld purchased the historic vehicle and subsequently acquired the matching watch, successfully reuniting the two legendary items after decades apart.
"This Rolex Daytona represents the ultimate intersection of automotive history and horological excellence," noted an industry expert following the announcement.
Today, the watch is estimated to fetch between $100,000 and $200,000 at the upcoming auction, which promises to be one of the most significant events for Phillips to date.
