American businessman Bezos, founder of the e-commerce giant Amazon, is the fourth-richest person in the world. According to Forbes, the 62-year-old has an estimated net worth of $256 billion. Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021 to become executive chairman, but he still holds 8% of the company's shares.
The Amazon founder also owns The Washington Post and the aerospace company Blue Origin, and was ranked as the richest person in the world in 2021. His partner, Bhatia, served as a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years before divesting his stake in the club last month, making him the key figure to provide the necessary sporting experience.
In 2023, Bezos was linked to the purchase of the NFL team Washington Commanders after owner Daniel Snyder put the franchise up for sale. He also previously explored the possibility of acquiring the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Bezos ultimately decided not to submit a bid for either team, but it now appears he is set to enter the sports arena through Liverpool.
In January of this year, Liverpool became the highest-earning club in the Premier League for the first time, according to an analysis by the financial firm Deloitte. The following month, the club announced record revenues of £703 million for the 2024-25 financial year. One of the greatest NBA stars of all time, LeBron James, is also involved in the club's ownership.
