"I don't know where I'll be living next week": May Hatual in an interview about the new reality
May Hatual talks about her complex divorce after eight years: "We reached a joint decision," and reveals the best investment she ever made that gave her financial peace during a time of transition: "I made an investment that is very, very smart" - a revealing interview.
Among the neon lights and sporty style at the launch event of the Originals Sport collection from Foot Locker and Adidas, May Hatual stood out in particular. The star of the last season of "The Amazing Race" arrived at the event while being at the center of quite a media storm.
About a month after she and her husband Itay announced their divorce after eight years of relationship and four years of marriage, Hatual stood in front of our cameras for a revealing and optimistic interview, while maintaining a smile and demonstrating inspiring maturity.
"We are at a Foot Locker and Adidas event, for the launch of the new Originals Sport collection. It's one of the most fun events I have ever seen, because everything here is invested in, it's incredible," May opened the conversation with her characteristic high energy. When asked about her current living situation, she shared honestly: "I found a sublet. I wish I had found a long-term apartment, but the situation is what it is, and the stars will align, and this sublet will become a permanent apartment. I'm on it, I'm the most on it in the world, don't worry."
The decision to share the news of the breakup on social networks sparked a wave of reactions, which surprised May. "I never believe that these personal things interest so many people," Hatual admitted, adding about the warm embrace she received from followers: "But the truth is that I received a lot of really strengthening and pleasant responses, and it was really nice, honestly. It was really uplifting, and it helps during a difficult period. It was the really good side of Instagram."
Regarding the words of internet personality Dana Zarmon, who claimed that the news about the divorce "caught everyone not surprised at all," May clarified unequivocally: "I don't know her personally, I have nothing to do with her, and we didn't talk."
This response comes after May chose to fend off gossip in an original way; she shared a screenshot of an intimate correspondence with her ex-husband Itay. In that conversation, May wrote: "I'm not going into Instagram for comments, so if you read, don't tell me, I prefer to ignore," and Itay replied with support: "Let them all die, continue with your own thing, believe in your path." On that same story, May clarified: "My (ex) husband is the king of the world. Always was and always will be. He is the only one who matters in this story."
At the event, May elaborated on the rare dynamic she maintained with her ex-husband: "We reached a joint decision together, in the most mature and friendly way I could have wished for us. We can still be in a good and friendly dialogue and support each other. I know that he will always be behind me in everything I do, just as I will be behind him."
Now, May is channeling all her energy forward and trying to get used to the new reality. "I focus mainly on doing, on my career, on the next steps, on learning what my life looks like now, alone after 8 years. It's not simple. There are better days and less good days, but I try to work, to fill the day with work."
When looking to the future, May prefers to take things at her own pace. In response to the question of where she sees herself in two years, she said: "Wow, in two years? I don't know where I'm living next week, but I hope I'm happy. Whether in a relationship or not, I'll be flying on my career."
The conversation concluded with a practical chapter on money. When asked for a financial tip, May did not hesitate: "Learn finance and economics, and understand a little more about investments. I wish someone had taught me this when I was young." At the end, Hatual revealed the best financial step she ever made: "I bought an apartment. I think I would never have done it if my mother hadn't sat on me here, and thanks to her I made an investment that is very, very smart and gives me such peace. I worked very hard for 13 years, and I am proud of myself that I managed to reach such a situation. I recommend everyone who can dream of it, to do it."
