Three Border Police officers sustained minor injuries during violent clashes in the West Bank village of Jalud overnight, the IDF reported. Security forces deployed to the area following reports of disturbances to protect local residents and oversee the return of a Palestinian family to their home. According to the military, over 100 Israelis gathered at the site, blocking roads, burning tires, and throwing stones at security forces. Several Palestinian structures and vehicles were set ablaze during the unrest.
Security Response and Arrests
Forces used riot dispersal means to manage the crowd and detained two suspects, aged 15 and 17, from northern Israel and the Binyamin region. They were transferred to the Judea and Samaria Police District for questioning. In a parallel operation, police and the Shin Bet initiated a joint investigation into the incidents. During sweeps on the outskirts of the village, officers intercepted a vehicle and arrested an 18-year-old Jerusalem resident after discovering face masks, clubs, and other incriminating evidence inside.
"The defense establishment strongly condemns any violence against security personnel, acts of vandalism, and property damage," the IDF stated.
Authorities emphasized that such disturbances distract security forces, destabilize the region, and undermine ongoing defense and counter-terrorism operations. Investigators, accompanied by forensic teams and secured by the IDF, plan to enter the village to collect evidence and take testimonies.
