A 20-year-old Muslim woman from Jaffa was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday while attempting to board a flight to Albania. During security checks, border officials discovered an exit ban issued against her due to unresolved military service status with the IDF.

The young woman was transferred to Military Prison 10 and released after more than 24 hours. According to her mother, Diana Danishevsky, her daughter was completely unaware of any military obligations and suffered severe psychological trauma during her detention.

Arrest at the Airport

Diana Danishevsky stated that her daughter is an independent chef restaurant worker who funded her own trip. Upon arriving at the airport, she was informed of the exit ban.

"At the airport, they told her she had an exit ban from the country. She didn't understand why and was in shock. They told her it was from the IDF. Police, Shin Bet, and the IDF arrived, detained her, and then took her to Prison 10 in handcuffs," the mother said.

Bureaucratic Error and Detention Conditions

The family believes the incident stemmed from a clerical error at the Population and Immigration Authority, where the young woman was allegedly not registered properly as a Muslim, making her legally subject to mandatory military service.

The mother added that her daughter described harsh conditions in military detention, including strict rules regarding sleeping and restroom usage, as well as being assigned a personal military serial number.

An IDF spokesperson stated in response: "The IDF receives population registry data from the Population and Immigration Authority and acts accordingly by law. The individual in question is not registered as a Muslim and was therefore required to regulate her status with the military and the Ministry of the Interior. Furthermore, she did not cooperate with draft orders sent to her lawfully. Following disciplinary proceedings, it was decided to release her from detention."
