An indictment for aggravated murder has been filed in the Tel Aviv District Court against 22-year-old Muhammad Zaytouna of Tel Aviv, who is accused of murdering Muhammad Ahmad and severely injuring two others in Jaffa about a month and a half ago. According to the indictment, Zaytouna arranged to meet Ahmad with the intent to kill him, shot him, and after he collapsed, leaned over him and fired multiple shots into his head.
Indictment Details and Investigation
The indictment was filed by attorney Efrat Sadeh from the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office, following the shooting that occurred on August 30 on Leib Ben Sarah Street in Jaffa. The prosecution has requested to detain Zaytouna until the legal proceedings against him are concluded.
According to the charges, Zaytouna knew Ahmad and decided to kill him. They arranged a meeting, and Ahmad arrived in a car with two other individuals while Zaytouna arrived on a motorcycle. Ahmad and one of the passengers stepped out of the vehicle and approached Zaytouna, who then drew a handgun and shot Ahmad, causing him to collapse. Zaytouna then approached his victim, leaned over him, and fired numerous bullets into his head.
"Following the shooting, the defendant targeted the remaining passengers, fleeing and hiding his tracks by changing clothes in Bat Yam and escaping to Jerusalem," stated the police investigation summary.
Flight and Arrest
Immediately after the incident, Zaytouna fled to Bat Yam where he changed his clothes, and later traveled to Jerusalem. He also arranged for associates to move the motorcycle to another location to obscure his trail.
In addition to aggravated murder, the indictment charges Zaytouna with aggravated assault, unauthorized carrying and transporting of weapons, and obstruction of justice. Police forces and the Tel Aviv District Central Unit utilized technological resources to track down the suspect, arresting him on September 2. During a search near his residence in Jaffa, officers seized a Sig Sauer pistol, a magazine, and ammunition.
