Dozens of Israeli Tourists Stranded in Nepal Amid Severe Storms
Dozens of Israeli tourists are stranded in Nepal due to severe storms and heavy rainfall that triggered landslides and blocked mountain trekking routes.
Extreme weather conditions have recently hit Nepal, bringing heavy and continuous rainfall that has caused major road closures, widespread traffic disruptions, and severe flooding concerns in mountainous regions. Due to these harsh conditions, numerous roads are blocked, and all trekking activities have been completely halted.
Israelis Stranded in Nepal
According to N12, dozens of Israeli tourists are currently stranded across the country due to the severe weather. The Israeli Embassy in Nepal is working alongside local tourism companies and guides to locate citizens who have not yet made contact and assist in relocating them to safe areas. Concurrently, the PassportCard situation room reports that its teams are accompanying numerous travelers trapped in affected zones.
"Since last night, weather conditions have been extremely harsh. There is no electricity, there have been rockslides near us, and our lives were saved by a miracle," said Yarin, an Israeli traveler trapped in Samagaon.
Data from PassportCard indicates that 17 travelers are in the Annapurna region, 17 in Manaslu (including Samagaon), 4 in the Tsum Valley (Chumling), and 2 in the Everest region. Four insured individuals require medical attention and will be evacuated as soon as weather conditions permit. At this stage, none of them are in life-threatening danger.
Rescue Operations and Evacuations
Stranded travelers described harrowing scenes of landslides, collapsing bridges, and freezing temperatures. While some individuals have managed to secure preliminary evacuation or medical transport, dozens more continue to await rescue in isolated mountain villages.
The adverse weather has severely impacted local infrastructure, triggering devastating mudslides and affecting remote mountain communities. Search and rescue teams continue to operate under complex conditions, utilizing manual excavation and controlled detonations to clear blocked routes and reach survivors.
