Israel Shifts to Winter Time as Temperatures Drop and Rain Approaches
Israel transitions to winter time with a significant drop in temperatures and upcoming rain showers. Meteorological services warn of potential flash floods in the south and east as unstable autumn weather arrives.

Israel transitioned to winter time over the weekend, moving clocks back one hour as unseasonably warm weather gave way to a sharp shift in meteorological conditions. While the weekend brought unusually warm temperatures, the time change marked the official transition to the colder season.
The upcoming week brings a significant drop in temperatures across the country, accompanied by unstable weather conditions. Sunday starts with partly cloudy skies and a noticeable cooling trend, particularly along the coastal plain and the lowlands, providing substantial relief from recent heat loads.
However, the Israel Meteorological Service issued heat advisories for several regions, including the eastern Lower Galilee, the Beit Shean Valley, the Kineret basin, the Jordan Valley, the northern Arava, the southern Judean Desert, the Hula Valley, and the Dead Sea area.
Forecasted high and low temperatures for Sunday include Kiryat Shmona at 21-31°C, Katzrin at 20-31°C, Safed at 18-27°C, Tiberias at 21-32°C, Haifa at 21-26°C, Tel Aviv at 22-27°C, Jerusalem at 16-25°C, Beersheba at 20-29°C, and Eilat at 23-33°C.
Monday will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with medium and high-level cloud cover, alongside a slight rise in temperatures, bringing readings above seasonal averages mainly in mountainous and inland areas. Localized rainfall is expected to begin overnight and continue into Tuesday, election day.
Tuesday's weather will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with a drop in temperatures back to seasonal norms. Scattered showers are expected across most of the country, intensifying significantly around noon in the south and east, accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds, and hail. Authorities have warned of potential flash floods in the streams of the Negev, the Arava, and the Dead Sea.
Unsettled conditions will persist into Wednesday, with a further slight decrease in temperatures bringing values slightly below seasonal averages. Localized rains will continue nationwide, with a slight risk of isolated thunderstorms and minor flooding in the Dead Sea and Arava riverbeds.
