Israel Football Stadiums Launch New Water Pouch Pilot Program
Israeli authorities have announced a new pilot program allowing football fans to bring up to 500ml of water into stadiums using flexible plastic pouches.

Israeli football authorities and police have announced a new pilot program allowing spectators to bring water into stadiums using flexible, transparent 500ml pouches.
Under the new framework developed jointly by the Israel Police, the Israel Football Association, and the Professional Football Leagues, each fan will be permitted to bring a single flexible plastic water pouch of up to 500ml. The guidelines strictly mandate that the pouches must contain only water and cannot be frozen, ensuring they pose no safety hazard if thrown toward the pitch or stands.
The pilot will launch exclusively at football matches before authorities evaluate its impact in the field. Based on the results, expansion to other sports disciplines will be considered. Authorities warned that if the pouches are used to breach public order or endanger attendees, authorization will be revoked immediately for specific groups, stands, or matches.
For years, Israeli sports fans have faced frustration over water bans and exorbitant concession prices at stadiums nationwide. Unlike Europe, where fans enjoy advanced sporting atmospheres, Israeli fans have endured harsh conditions. This new pilot marks a first step toward rectifying a historical grievance and setting new standards for crowd welfare.
