Israel Prepares Reserve Quota of 200,000 as Defense Minister Issues Stark Warning

The Israeli government is expected to approve a decision allowing the mobilization of up to 200,000 reservists. Ministers voted this morning via a telephone poll to extend the state of emergency on the home front until October 6.

The defense establishment clarified that this does not mean an immediate call-up of hundreds of thousands of soldiers, but rather an extension of 200,000 reserve mobilization slots if needed. According to Defense Ministry data, this represents a decrease of about 40,000 slots compared to the quota approved in the previous decision two months ago.

The approval of the quotas and the extension of the emergency state come against the backdrop of security tensions and firm warnings by Defense Minister Israel Katz. Katz warned terror organizations and their supporters, threatening a severe response if any Israeli is abducted.
