The Israeli national football team is set to disperse after a 15-day encampment, reconvening next month for crucial UEFA Nations League fixtures against Kosovo in Pristina and Austria in Debrecen. These matches will conclude the current campaign, with the Football Association emphasizing the absolute necessity of securing all six points to avoid dropping to League 3 ahead of the Euro 2028 qualifiers.

Looking Ahead to November Fixtures

Reflecting on the campaign, team management noted the initial ambitions set by head coach Ran Ben Shimon to finish at the top of the group. While first place is out of reach, a theoretical chance remains for second place. The team initially showed promise in their away match against Austria in Linz, which was derailed by an unfortunate red card and subsequent loss.

We had to maintain the draw in Austria, but it proved too difficult and we lost. That is how we started this group stage, and then came the ordeal with Ireland.

Overcoming Pressure and Off-Field Challenges

The matches against Ireland proved uniquely demanding, characterized by intense psychological pressure and off-field controversies. Management acknowledged that the sheer weight of national expectations initially overwhelmed the squad, leading to a severe first-half collapse in the opening encounter.

  • Securing six points in November remains the primary target.

  • Avoiding relegation to League 3 is critical for Euro 2028 seeding.

  • Strong second-half performances against Ireland demonstrated resilience.

Concluding the recent fixtures with a hard-fought draw against Ireland, boosted by a strong tactical response and a goal from Dor Peretz, the team received praise from Football Association Chairman Shino Zuaretz. The leadership stressed that the tenacity shown in the second half must serve as the benchmark for next month's decisive matches.
