The financial investigation surrounding the football club Ironi Tiberias is seeing new developments, with a settlement emerging that will allow questioned players to avoid criminal proceedings. Players who were investigated admitted to taking unpaid leave during the football offseason despite holding active contracts with the club, prompting expected ransom agreements to return funds received from the National Insurance Institute.

Repayment and Financial Settlements

According to reports, the players are expected to return the unemployment benefits they received, along with interest and fines in accordance with the settlement terms. This framework aims to conclude their involvement without criminal prosecution, taking into account the specific amounts involved, though proceedings have not yet been fully finalized.

The 'Mirror Image' Investigation

The probe began following an operation by the National Insurance Institute's investigation and intelligence division as part of an affair designated as 'Mirror Image'. It is being conducted alongside the economic unit of Lahav 433 and the Tax Authority's Diamond Unit. The investigation examines how the club's financial engagements were managed and reported.

Broader Double Contracts Suspicions

Beyond unemployment benefits, the broader investigation addresses suspicions of a double-contract system and the concealment of player salaries over four seasons, amounting to tens of millions of NIS. Suspicions include fraud, forgery, money laundering, and tax offenses, with several key figures and club owners previously remanded by the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court.
