Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has officially announced its withdrawal from the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas, Bulgaria, in direct protest against Israel’s participation. RTÉ stated that its position remains unchanged, citing the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and restrictions on journalists.

This dramatic move by Ireland could potentially trigger a domino effect across Europe, as broadcasters in several other nations have yet to finalize their decisions regarding participation in the upcoming contest.

Despite ongoing political pressures and threats of a broader boycott, Israel is expected to take part in the competition as planned, with its performance scheduled for the second semifinal.
