Iranian Lawmaker Threatens Impeachment of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

Iranian lawmaker Hossein-Ali Haji Deligani reiterated threats to impeach Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, citing mounting discontent over his conduct regarding the United States.

Speaking to the Iranian news site Tabnak, Haji Deligani stated that parliament members are currently gathering signatures and documentation to initiate the dismissal process against the top diplomat. The controversy erupted following the presence of an Iranian representative in the hall during U.S. President Donald Trump's speech at the UN General Assembly.

Haji Deligani criticized Araghchi's handling of diplomatic relations with Washington, claiming that his statements and actions provide artificial respiration to the Americans. Lawmakers plan to summon the foreign minister upon his return to explain his recent steps before the plenary session.
