According to senior officials, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is alive, albeit physically and mentally wounded. He is reportedly surrounding himself with extremist commanders from the Basij and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), adopting a rigid wartime mindset that officials warn will lead the country to an abyss.
"The public is barely surviving, and the Iranian economy is in free fall," senior officials stated. While official inflation stands at 88 percent, real figures are estimated to be at least three times higher, with the rial plummeting to 2.3 million per dollar amid soaring unemployment and halted oil exports. Simultaneously, the United States Embassy in the United Arab Emirates issued an official security warning, urging American citizens in the country to exercise heightened caution at sites associated with the Jewish and Israeli communities, including houses of worship. The diplomatic mission requested increased situational awareness and strict adherence to personal security measures during the holiday season.
"Stay alert, maintain heightened situational awareness, and adopt good personal security measures," the embassy stated, recommending that citizens enroll in the Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
Regime Infighting Revealed Over Commercial Ship Attacks
The New York Times report exposed intense political clashes following an incident in July, when Iranian forces opened fire on commercial vessels despite prior understandings reached with the United States. President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly reacted with shock and fury, calling IRGC commander-in-chief Ahmad Vahidi to denounce the operations as reckless. Vahidi claimed he neither authorized nor knew of the attack in advance, stating that the Supreme National Security Council was similarly kept in the dark.
According to Iranian sources, the confrontation erupted into shouting matches, threats of resignation from two senior generals, and mutual accusations of treason. Investigations by the government and security forces later revealed that the decision to target the three commercial vessels was orchestrated by Hossein Taeb, a powerful cleric and former intelligence chief who vehemently opposed peace agreements with the United States. Taeb recently returned to prominence following the elimination of Ali Khamenei, playing a central role in elevating Mojtaba Khamenei to the succession.
