Two-Week-Old Infant Found Unconscious in Akko and Evacuated to Hospital
A two-week-old infant in Akko was evacuated in critical condition while undergoing resuscitation. The incident follows recent child safety tragedies in Kiryat Yam and Bnei Brak.
A two-week-old infant was found unconscious this morning (Thursday) at a home in Akko. Magen David Adom (MDA) teams rushed to the scene, provided initial medical treatment, and evacuated the baby while performing resuscitation efforts to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.
Dr. Omri Gurga, an MDA volunteer physician, and paramedic Salem Haricha said, "This is a very difficult incident. We were led to the toddler who was lying unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. We quickly began resuscitation efforts that included chest compressions, artificial ventilation, and medication, and we evacuated him urgently to the trauma room at the hospital while continuing advanced resuscitation efforts."
A week ago, a two-year-old toddler fell to his death from a fourth-floor balcony in a residential building in Kiryat Yam. MDA teams rushed to the scene and found him in critical condition, without a pulse and not breathing, and evacuated him while performing resuscitation to Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, where doctors fought for his life but were ultimately forced to pronounce him dead.
Last month, a six-month-old infant was critically injured after choking on a plastic bag in Bnei Brak. MDA medics and paramedics rushed to the scene, provided medical treatment, and evacuated him to Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer with multi-system trauma while performing resuscitation.
