Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto called to "free Palestine" during a ceremony marking the centenary of the Gontor Islamic boarding school in East Java. Wearing a keffiyeh, Subianto invited Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al-Shun, to the stage as the two embraced before thousands of students and alumni.

The crowd responded with loud cheers and applause as the Indonesian leader repeated the call to "free Palestine." Subianto stated that he was reminded of Palestinian brothers and sisters who are being attacked and bombed without pause, adding that Indonesia must grow stronger to help the oppressed.

Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation with approximately 283 million citizens, does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel. However, Subianto previously stated at the UN General Assembly that the world must guarantee Israel's security alongside a Palestinian state.
