Parked in Tel Aviv - and was asked to pay 13,000 NIS
Paying for parking has become an integral part of any outing in Tel Aviv, but in the case of Nati Bar Cohen, the amount crossed every line. After entering a parking lot in the city and wanting to leave after only half an hour, he was stunned to see an astronomical amount on the screen. In an interview after the incident, he explained how he managed to overcome the error.
The saga surrounding the billing system in parking lots may be behind us, but it turns out that in one parking lot in Tel Aviv, a new record was broken. Nati Bar Cohen, a young musician who wanted to meet friends after a debut performance, parked in one of the city's parking lots for only half an hour. When he wanted to leave, he discovered that he was being asked to pay an illogical sum of 13,040 NIS. Today, Friday, he told in an interview on 'Haim Ve-Maayan' how he eventually managed to leave with his car.
"I said I would stay here all night, I am not paying this," Cohen said, describing the actions he tried to take to get himself out of there: "I called the police, they told me to call the municipality, who said to call the police and so on. So I just asked someone who was passing by to enter for a second and leave, I paid for his entry to the parking lot and left with him."
Now that it is behind him, Cohen lives with the mistake with a smile, but host Maayan Adam shared that if she were in his place, she would not have given up easily: "If I am dying to get home, exhausted after a performance, and because of this nonsense I am stuck for an hour in a parking lot and have to get out and ask people for favors, I want compensation."
