Threatened him to say it happened "by mistake": Indictment against the son who shot his father with a speargun

The prosecution filed an indictment with the Lod District Court against Moshe Levi (39) from Neve Yamin, who shot his father with an improvised arrow from a speargun and seriously wounded him. The indictment, filed by Adv. Netanel Boujo of the Central District Prosecution, states that there was a complex relationship between the defendant and his father against the backdrop of the defendant's drug addiction and his repeated requests for his father to fund their purchase.

One day, the defendant arrived at his parents' house, located near his own, and attacked his father. The father cut off contact following the incident and asked one of his neighbors to stay in touch with the defendant and transfer funds to him on his behalf from time to time.

But the situation continued to escalate, and a few days later, the defendant threw a brick at his parents' house, threatened his father, and even intentionally collided with his father's vehicle. The defendant decided to harm his father using a speargun he had in his possession, but since he did not have a suitable arrow, he took a thin iron rod and improvised an arrow that fit the gun.

The next day, after the neighbor refused to transfer additional payments to him and threatened that his father would call the police if he did not stop, the defendant went to his father while equipped with the gun. The father, who was standing in his yard, tried to escape into the house, but the defendant managed to shoot the improvised arrow into his neck. The wounded father collapsed and locked the door, but the defendant entered through the glass door and threatened his father to say that the injury happened "by mistake," and fled.

A few hours later, the defendant was caught in an apartment in Netanya with cocaine in his possession. The indictment charges the defendant with offenses of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, simple assault, malicious damage to a vehicle, and possession of a dangerous drug not for personal consumption.

The prosecution is requesting to detain the defendant until the end of the legal proceedings against him, as his actions and the circumstances of the offenses, including shooting his father who had looked after his well-being for years, while using an improvised weapon, indicate the clear danger he poses.

And what did the defendant say during the investigation? He linked himself to the incident and confirmed that he held a speargun and even prepared an improvised arrow from an iron rod. But he claimed that he had no intention of shooting the complainant and harming him, but rather that, according to his version, the arrow was discharged from the gun by mistake. The police believe that the version is contradicted first and foremost by the documentation from the security cameras at the scene.

In addition, as the investigation progressed and as evidence contradicting his version was presented to him, the defendant chose to remain silent for the most part. Regarding the drugs found in the hideout apartment to which he fled, he confirmed that they were his.
