IDF Military Advocate General, Maj. Gen. Itai Ofir, addressed an International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (IJL) conference on Tuesday, detailing the military's legal framework amid ongoing multi-front combat.

"Following a war spanning three fronts and lasting three years, I want to discuss the IDF's legal doctrine and how the military addresses internal failures," Ofir stated, emphasizing that the events of October 7 did not alter the army's commitment to the rule of law.

Addressing the underground threat and Hamas's tactics, the general noted that the enemy exploits legal frameworks differently. "Modern military history has not witnessed anything as complex as the Hamas tunnel network," Ofir said, adding that the IDF adheres strictly to legal principles when striking targets near civilian infrastructure.

Ofir also addressed international criticism and control mechanisms, including allegations made in the film "The Logic of War" regarding civilian casualties. "We constantly review our actions. This war carries tragic consequences, including death and suffering, and we carefully evaluate collateral damage," he stated, rejecting accusations of genocide as part of a broader global campaign against Israel.
