IDF Eliminates Hamas Commander Involved in Be'eri Hostage Abductions
The IDF eliminated two terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre, including a Hamas squad commander who participated in the high-profile abduction of Be'eri family members.

The IDF announced on Thursday the elimination of two terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre. The most prominent among them, Muhammad Jamal Mahmoud Abu al-Shaar, a squad commander in Hamas's military wing, was killed on Tuesday in Gaza City.

According to the military, Abu al-Shaar was among the terrorists who raided Kibbutz Be'eri and participated in the abduction of Sharon Harzman-Avigdori and her daughter Noam, Adi Shoham and her two children Naveh and Yahav, as well as her mother Shoshan Haran. The six family members were held in captivity for 50 days and released together during the second phase of the hostage deal in November 2023.
The military noted that Abu al-Shaar continued to advance terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli citizens in violation of the ceasefire. In a separate strike in the Jabalya area, the IDF eliminated Musab Abd al-Jalil Saqib Balbisi, identified as a commander in the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who also participated in the October 7 atrocities.
