During the holiday intermediate days, Ilan and Klara Hamami—parents of IDF hero Col. Asaf Hamami, who was abducted to the Gaza Strip and whose body was returned for burial in Israel—visited the sukkah of United Torah Judaism MK Yaakov Asher.

The visit was accompanied by media personality Yisrael Cohen, one of the prominent activists in the Haredi sector since October 7 supporting hostage families, captive survivors, and the commandment of redeeming captives.

During the visit, the Hamami couple spoke about the need for unity among all segments of Israeli society and the necessity of avoiding division and incitement between different sectors.

The Hamami parents presented MK Asher with their appreciation medal dedicated to their son, which bears his core principles for the people of Israel.

Ilan Hamami shared during the meeting that Israel's Ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, called him to ask for prayers for the recovery of his son, who was seriously injured last week in a terror attack. Hamami also recounted that Leiter, himself a bereaved father, had previously traveled with him to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.
