Elite IDF Artillery Officers Awarded Citations Following Lebanon Combat
Three elite artillery fire support officers from the Egoz, Golani, and Nahal reconnaissance units have received formal excellence citations following intense combat operations in Lebanon and the West Bank.
Three elite artillery officers who forged a deep bond during their training course have each received formal citations for their exceptional service in Lebanon and the West Bank.
Forged in Training
The officers met during the artillery corps training course and officer academy, eventually becoming inseparable. After completing their initial training, each was assigned as a fire support officer (KASHA) to a different elite unit: Second Lieutenant R. in the Egoz reconnaissance unit, Second Lieutenant O. in the Golani reconnaissance unit, and Second Lieutenant O. in the Nahal reconnaissance unit. Their friendship was cemented during dozens of sleepless nights and grueling field exercises, creating a mutual trust and healthy competition.
Combat Operations in Lebanon
Each officer participated extensively in active combat operations during the ongoing maneuvers in Lebanon. Second Lieutenant R. took part in the intense battles on the Ali al-Taher ridge, providing crucial fire support and shielding forces from enemy threats such as explosive drones and anti-tank fire.
Second Lieutenant O. of the Golani reconnaissance unit spent seven months maneuvering in Lebanon, participating in the capture of the Beaufort Castle and the Litani River area. Describing the moment the Golani flag was raised alongside the Israeli flag atop Beaufort Castle, he noted the profound realization of his role in the broader defense of the nation. Similarly, Second Lieutenant O. of the Nahal reconnaissance unit was thrust immediately into combat operations in Lebanon, directing heavy fire support following complex engagements and later transitioning to operational duties in the West Bank.
Recognition and Future Aspirations
Following months of intense combat, all three friends received official excellence citations within a short span of each other. Reflecting on their service, the officers emphasized the values of humility, resilience, and teamwork. As they look toward the future, the officers plan to travel abroad, reconnect with their families, and carry the lessons of leadership and perseverance into civilian life.
