Israeli Parties Rally Behind National Housing Initiative for Military Reservists
A cross-party Israeli initiative titled Homes for Warriors unites diverse political factions to secure housing and financial support for military reservists and their families.

A cross-party initiative named "Homes for Warriors" is uniting political factions across Israel around a shared objective: enabling military reservists who defended the country to secure housing and build their futures. According to project leaders, approximately 80% of the political parties approached have already expressed support for advancing housing solutions for reservists and their families.
Broad Political Support
Among the notable supporters of the initiative are Gadi Eisenkot from Yisrael, Naftali Bennett from BeYachad, Yoaz Hendel, Avigdor Lieberman from Yisrael Beytenu, Yinon Azoulay from Shas, Ofer Winter from Amcha Yisrael, Itamar Ben Gvir from Otzma Yehudit, and Moshe Feiglin. This broad consensus bridges traditional political divides in support of those who bore the brunt of military service.
The initiative is already taking shape on the ground, with reserve soldier families relocating to Kibbutz Holit in the Gaza Envelope as part of a pilot program. For these families, it represents a fresh start, while for the kibbutz, heavily impacted by the October 7 attacks, their arrival marks a vital step toward community renewal and demographic growth.
A National Charter for Housing
At the core of the campaign is a national charter addressed to candidates for the Knesset. The document calls for accessible housing solutions for male and female reservists, soldiers wounded since October 7, and the widows and widowers of fallen combatants.
Proposed measures within the charter include temporary exemptions from VAT and purchase tax on new apartments up to two million shekels in the Negev, the Galilee, and national priority zones. It also features grants of up to 100,000 shekels for first-time homebuyers to help cover equity requirements.
Furthermore, the charter advocates lowering the age threshold for single reservists over 26 to enter the "Target Price" subsidized housing lottery, alongside allocating half of the plots in Israel Land Authority "Build Your Own Home" tenders to reservists.
Administrative Action and Future Goals
To ensure political promises translate into actionable policy, the charter demands the establishment of a dedicated directorate within the Prime Minister's Office. This body would coordinate planning authorities and budgetary mechanisms during the first 100 days of the next government.
Itamar Hayun, founder of "Homes for Warriors," emphasized the urgency of the mission, stating that families who left everything behind to defend the nation deserve tangible opportunities to build their own homes and secure their futures.
