Outpatient clinics and ambulatory institutes at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera will hold a strike tomorrow (Monday) in protest of the violent assault against a senior nurse in the emergency room earlier this week. The Israel Police announced on Thursday that an investigation was opened after a 21-year-old patient threw a bottle at the nurse, striking her in the eye. The suspect was arrested and released hours later.
Sh., the assaulted nurse, recounted the harrowing incident to mako health, stating that she sat on the floor and lost her vision for several minutes. ### Recovery and Calls for Systemic Change
"I sat on the floor and couldn't see anything. For long minutes I saw black. I was sure I had lost my eye," Sh. recalled. Medical examinations by an ophthalmologist later revealed scratches and internal bleeding in her eye.
The Israel Nurses Association announced that outpatient clinics at Hillel Yaffe will be shut down from 07:00 to 17:00, and ambulatory institutes from 07:00 to 15:00. Additionally, an informational assembly will be held across all hospital departments. Shaul Skipif, chairman of the Nurses Association, condemned the attack and demanded a thorough internal review regarding the absence of a required police officer in the ward.
