New Drainage Culverts Installed on Highway 90 to Prevent Flooding
Four new culverts have been installed on Highway 90 near the Dead Sea to prevent recurring flash flood closures and improve driver safety in the region.

Drivers traveling through the Dead Sea region during heavy rains frequently face the prospect of Highway 90 closures. To mitigate recurring flooding and traffic disruptions, four new culverts have been successfully installed near the Dead Sea Works.
The infrastructure upgrades were carried out south of the Zohar Junction at kilometer 193, replacing outdated and clogged drainage systems that historically posed safety risks to motorists during seasonal flash floods.
According to Yael Gaon, CEO of Derech Betucha, the project was completed within a single month through intensive round-the-clock work segments.
Environmental development and safety enhancements are currently underway along the affected section. These finishing touches include asphalt resurfacing, guardrail installation, road markings, and updated traffic arrangements.
