99-Year-Old Woman Becomes World's Oldest Wing Walker in England
At 99 years old, Helga Duffield became the world's oldest female wing walker after flying strapped to a biplane in England, raising funds for a local air ambulance.

At 99 years old, most people prefer keeping their feet firmly on the ground. However, Helga Duffield, living in an English care home, decided it was time to soar by performing a wing-walking stunt hundreds of meters in the air.
Duffield completed the stunt at Rendcomb Airfield in Gloucestershire, becoming the oldest woman in the world to successfully complete a wing walk. For about eight minutes, she flew strapped to a special rig on the upper wing of a biplane at the remarkable age of 99 years and 21 days.
The story also features a playful competitive twist. Duffield decided to pursue the record after watching 97-year-old Betty Bromage perform the exact same stunt on television, prompting her to prove she could do it too.
"I wasn't frightened because I was so excited," Duffield shared after landing safely. Beyond claiming a world record, she used the adventure to raise over 1,300 pounds for her local air ambulance service.
