"If you have such a robotic vacuum cleaner that moves around the house alone, cleans, listen very carefully," Etgar stated. He explained that as the devices navigate through rooms, they map the house layout, warning that this information could potentially be accessed by burglars to understand home interiors.
Etgar also pointed out that certain models feature built-in cameras, which could expose private domestic details if compromised. However, he did not call for a total ban on the appliances, advising users to secure their devices with strong passwords if they choose to keep them.
While Etgar highlighted a theoretical vulnerability, he did not cite any specific documented incidents where data from a robotic vacuum was actually intercepted by criminals.
