Haifa Police are investigating the death of a woman in her 30s who was found critically injured overnight on HaAtzmaut Street and later pronounced dead at Rambam Health Care Campus. Authorities arrested the victim's 28-year-old partner for questioning, though investigators initially examined all possibilities, including self-harm, before suspicions shifted toward murder.
The incident came to light at approximately 00:43 when the partner contacted police to report the emergency. Magen David Adom paramedics rushed to the stairwell where the woman was found suffering from severe upper-body trauma. Emergency responders performed CPR while transporting her to the nearby hospital, where physicians ultimately pronounced her dead.
Officers from the Haifa station and Carmel region secured the scene and launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy. The victim's body will be transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for a post-mortem examination. Police intend to request a court extension of the suspect's detention as the investigation progresses.
