A young man in his 20s has been missing since Thursday afternoon at the Students' Beach in Haifa. Rescue units from Fire and Rescue and ZAKA volunteers conducted searches throughout the night to locate him, with the maritime police also participating in the operation.

The young man arrived at the beach with another person. The two entered the water, and at some point, his companion came out on a kayak while the missing man continued diving. After noticing that the diver did not return, his companion alerted the emergency services.

Extensive searches have been underway since, involving large forces including the maritime police and the Lahava rescue unit. The operations are being conducted from the air using a helicopter and drones, at sea with boats and jet skis, and along the shoreline through foot patrols, all-terrain vehicles, and mounted police.

Police issued a statement late Thursday evening confirming that officers from the Carmel region, maritime police, an aerial unit helicopter, jeep volunteers, and other rescue personnel were actively operating at Students' Beach following reports of the missing diver.
