Google has officially released its dedicated Gemini application for Windows, expanding its desktop presence following the launch of the macOS version last April. The new app allows Windows 11 and Windows 10 users to access Google's advanced artificial intelligence models directly from their desktop.

Seamless Desktop Integration

Users can instantly summon the assistant using the alt+space keyboard shortcut. A standout feature of the Windows application is its ability to directly interact with the user's active screen, eliminating the need to manually capture and paste screenshots into the chat window. Users can request real-time fact-checking, text proofreading, error corrections, or visual graphics generation based entirely on live on-screen data.

The application provides access to standard text-generating Gemini models as well as advanced visual generation models such as Nano Banana and Gemini Omni. Google describes the software as lightweight and resource-efficient, promising additional native capabilities in future updates.

Integration with Gemini Spark

"The new Windows application brings powerful native AI capabilities directly to your desktop, making multitasking smoother and more intuitive than ever before."

In addition to traditional chat functions, the app incorporates Gemini Spark, an autonomous agent introduced during Google's developer conference. This agent operates in the background to execute complex tasks across various Google ecosystem services, including Gmail and Google Drive, enhancing productivity for daily users.
