A 16-year-old boy from the Golan Heights was bitten by a viper while picking lemons with his friends and is recovering at a medical center.
Yuval Ben Yosef from Moshav Yonatan initially thought he was pricked by a thorn before spotting the snake. Remaining calm, he asked his friends to call an ambulance and alert staff. He was evacuated by a military ambulance to HaEmek Medical Center, where he received antivenom in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Dr. Gor Zamir, head of the pediatric ICU, praised the teens' quick response. Doctors remind the public to exercise caution in agricultural areas, remain calm in case of a bite, avoid tourniquets or cutting the wound, and seek immediate medical attention.
