Two Killed in Gaza Airstrike as IDF Eliminates Senior Hamas Commanders
Two people were killed and four injured in an airstrike in Gaza City. Meanwhile, the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed the elimination of senior Hamas commanders, including the Rafah Brigade chief.
Palestinians reported Saturday afternoon that a vehicle was targeted in an airstrike in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of western Gaza City. According to reports, at least two people were killed and four others were injured.
On Tuesday, the commander of Hamas's Rafah Brigade, Nael Abu Ebeid, was eliminated in the southern Gaza Strip. He had taken over the role last year from Mohammed Shabana, who was killed alongside Mohammed Sinwar. In a joint statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz stated: "Our message is clear—no terrorist is immune, and Hamas will not remain in Gaza. We strengthen the IDF and Shin Bet, who operate with determination to remove threats and protect Israeli citizens."
The IDF and Shin Bet stated: "Abu Ebeid was appointed to his position following the elimination of Mohammed Shabana. Previously, he held a series of roles in the brigade, including deputy commander of the Rafah Brigade and commander of the Tel Sultan and Yibna battalions. Abu Ebeid was a central figure among senior Hamas operatives, responsible for directing terrorist plots against IDF forces and Israeli citizens, and attempting to rebuild the brigade's military capabilities." Security forces in the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement.
Earlier that morning, the IDF confirmed the elimination in Khan Yunis of Rafat Abu Zamar, a company commander in Hamas's military wing operations headquarters, and in another strike in Gaza City, terrorist Mohammed Khadr Fahmi Agour was killed. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that Abu Zamar "promoted and led training for Hamas terrorists ahead of the October 7 massacre."
