Samsung Launches Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra with 200MP Camera and 5000mAh Battery
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra, featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a silicon-based 5,000 mAh battery, and a 200MP triple camera system. The device measures just 4.1 mm when unfolded.
Samsung's premium foldable lineup has received its latest flagship, the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra. While the standard Fold 8 has captured significant market attention, the Ultra model represents the technological peak of the series, offering key hardware upgrades over its predecessor.
Design and Build: Engineering Refinement
Visually, the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra remains almost identical to last year's model. Samsung's engineers managed to shave off a fraction of a millimeter, bringing the unfolded thickness down to 4.1 mm compared to 4.2 mm previously. When folded, the device is 8.9 mm thick.
Weighing 215 grams, the Fold 8 Ultra is 18 grams lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The external screen features a 6.5-inch display with a narrow aspect ratio, while the main internal tablet-style screen measures 8 inches. The screen crease is virtually invisible and does not interfere with gaming or media consumption. The device is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 3 and rated IP48 for water resistance, though it lacks advanced dust protection.
Hardware and Battery Performance
The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. Unlike the smaller Fold 8, the Ultra model does not experience thermal throttling or overheating when running demanding games on the cover screen.
Autonomy has received a major boost due to a new silicon-based battery, increasing capacity from 4,400 mAh to 5,000 mAh. This provides up to two days of regular use. Wired charging has also been upgraded from 25W to 45W. Using a compatible fast charger, the battery goes from 15% to 50% in 15 minutes, with a full charge taking approximately one hour.
