Galatasaray Fans Display Anti-Israel Banners Prior to Champions League Match
Galatasaray fans displayed anti-Israel banners during their Champions League match against Barcelona in Istanbul, continuing a recurring pattern of political protests at European fixtures.
Galatasaray fans once again displayed anti-Israel messages on Tuesday evening, just moments before the kickoff of their Champions League match against Barcelona. At the Rams Park stadium in Istanbul, banners were hung reading, among other things, "Free Palestine" and "Humanity has lost its conscience in Gaza."
This pattern has repeated itself during several of the club's matches in European competitions. As early as August 2024, during a match against Swiss side Young Boys in the Champions League qualifiers, banners with the exact same messages were raised in the stands.
In September 2025, during a match against Liverpool in the Champions League, the protest returned. Alongside previously seen banners, additional messages were displayed, including "Let the babies in Gaza live,If Jerusalem is not free, the world is captive," and "Genocide in Palestine."
A month later, in October 2025, ahead of the match against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, another protest was recorded in the Galatasaray stands. On that occasion, the club itself addressed the issue, publishing photos from the stands on its official X account alongside the caption: "Stop the genocide."
