Beat, choked and threatened with a stick: elderly man robbed in central Tel Aviv

A resident of Kiryat Gat in his 30s was arrested near the scene, in possession of the mobile phone he allegedly robbed from the 66-year-old. The victim suffered an injury to his nose. Today, the police will request to extend his detention.

Officers from the Lev Tel Aviv station in the Yarkon district arrested a resident of Kiryat Gat last night in central Tel Aviv on suspicion of robbing a mobile phone from a 66-year-old man, assaulting him, and threatening his life.

Overnight, reports were received at the police 100 emergency center regarding a suspect who allegedly assaulted a 66-year-old man in central Tel Aviv and robbed him of his mobile phone.

According to the investigation, the suspect beat and choked the elderly man, resulting in a nose injury. During the incident, the suspect held a stick and threatened to kill the victim if he did not hand over the phone.

Officers who arrived at the scene arrested the suspect nearby, in possession of the property allegedly stolen from the victim. The suspect, a resident of Kiryat Gat in his 30s, was taken to the station for questioning. Today, he will be brought to a court hearing, where the police will request to extend his detention in accordance with the needs of the investigation.
