France Deploys Soldiers and Police Ahead of Nationwide Weekend Protests
The French government will deploy soldiers and massive police forces for upcoming weekend protests following severe riots, as Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu vows to restore public order.

The French government plans to deploy soldiers this coming Saturday to assist police during planned demonstrations. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced a massive police deployment following severe riots last weekend, aiming for an immediate return to order. Night curfews were imposed in major cities including Paris, Marseille, Lille, and Nice, contributing to a calmer night.
Following protests against the cost of living that deteriorated into street clashes and looting, authorities reported that 123 of those arrested remain in custody. Meanwhile, student organizations and groups associated with the Yellow Vests movement have called for further demonstrations this coming Saturday, raising concerns over security and public order.
