Flydubai Faces Class-Action Lawsuit Over Canceled Flights After Dubai Security Incident
A couple whose Dubai-Israel flight was canceled following a September 30 security incident filed a class-action suit against Flydubai in the Tel Aviv District Court, demanding compensation for abandoned passengers.

A couple whose flight from Dubai to Israel was canceled following a security incident on September 30 has filed a class-action lawsuit request against the airline Flydubai. The motion, submitted to the Tel Aviv District Court through Adv. Efrat Sagi, a partner at Ben-Ari, Fisch & Co., alleges that the company abandoned hundreds of passengers stranded abroad without adequate assistance.
Details of the Class Action
The plaintiffs are seeking class-action status on behalf of all Flydubai ticket purchasers who received notice of flight cancellations due to the security event on September 30. They estimate the affected group numbers in the thousands of consumers.
The couple had purchased flight tickets from Israel to Japan via Japan and back, costing approximately 12,000 NIS. While in Japan, they received notice that the Dubai-to-Israel leg was canceled. When they contacted their travel agency as instructed by Flydubai, they were told no help could be provided.
"The situation led to a sharp rise in demand for urgent flights and made finding alternative solutions extremely difficult," the filing stated.
Expenses and Demands
Ultimately, the couple purchased tickets from Dubai to Athens and from there to Israel, without receiving an alternative ticket to their final destination. Their out-of-pocket damages stand at 8,677 NIS, alongside claims for non-pecuniary damages such as severe distress and wasted time.
Adv. Sagi stated that her office will work to bring justice to all passengers forced to bear significant expenses to return home while Flydubai shirked its liability.
