A 24-year-old woman from Florida was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly tracking her boyfriend via mobile phone, discovering he was meeting another woman, and firing a shot at the vehicle. The incident took place on the night between October 23 and October 24 in the Port St. John area of Florida, according to local media reports.
Investigation Details and Arrest
According to the arrest affidavit, the suspect, Catherine Dale Kelly, tracked her partner using location data and confronted him via text messages. She took a taxi to the scene carrying a pink-and-black Glock handgun. After locating the vehicle, she approached the passenger window and fired a single shot. The bullet shattered the window and struck the female passenger in the left shoulder, while the boyfriend sustained minor hand injuries from flying glass.
Confession and Charges
During her interrogation, Kelly initially claimed self-defense but later admitted she wanted to "send a message" due to suspected infidelity. Investigators recovered a 9mm spent casing at the scene and found the firearm during a search of her residence. Although Kelly deleted the incriminating text messages, authorities successfully recovered them using the boyfriend's phone. She faces charges including premeditated first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with her next court appearance scheduled for November 24.
