Olympiacos Edges Fenerbahce 92-90 to Reach EuroLeague Super Cup Final
Olympiacos advanced to the inaugural EuroLeague Super Cup final in Abu Dhabi after a dramatic 92-90 victory over Fenerbahce, led by Evan Fournier's game-winning basket.
The new EuroLeague Super Cup kicked off on Friday in Abu Dhabi, marking the inaugural edition of a tournament designed to officially open the European basketball season. Held at the Etihad Arena in a Final Four format, the competition features reigning European champion Olympiacos, 2025 champion Fenerbahce, EuroLeague runner-up Real Madrid, and host team Dubai. The final and the third-place playoff are scheduled for Saturday.
Olympiacos became the first team to reach the final after edging Fenerbahce 92-90 in a thrilling encounter. Sarunas Jasikevicius' side took the lead early and pulled away to a double-digit advantage in the third quarter, largely driven by Shavon Shields. However, Evan Fournier leveled the score at 83-83 with five minutes remaining. Jean Montero and Cory Joseph then completed a comeback to make it 90-85, before Braxton Key tied it up again at 90-90. Fournier ultimately secured the game-winning basket with 53 seconds left on the clock. Talen Horton-Tucker and Wade Baldwin missed late attempts to send the game to overtime or snatch victory for the Turkish side.
Fournier led the winners with 19 points, Montero added 13, and Donta Hall posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Fenerbahce was led by Shields with 18 points and Key with 17.
