Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi Confirms End of Term in 2030
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi declared during a military ceremony that his presidential term will end in 2030, promising the constitution will not be amended.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced during a military academy ceremony on Saturday that his current presidential term will officially conclude in 2030, confirming that the constitution will not be amended to extend his rule.
El-Sisi stated that the matter is finalized and non-negotiable, while emphasizing that he will not abandon Egypt and noting the nation's abundance of talented leaders. The 71-year-old leader rose to power roughly 12 years ago and secured a six-year term in 2023 with over 96 percent of the vote following prior constitutional adjustments.
During previous elections, potential rivals faced disqualification, leaving a candidate aligned with his supporters as his primary opponent amid a voter turnout of approximately 41 percent. If he fulfills his pledge, el-Sisi will transition to civilian life at the age of 75.
