Dimona and Petah Tikva have recorded a surge of more than 20% in high school matriculation eligibility rates over recent years, according to data released Wednesday in the Ministry of Education's annual educational landscape report. Both cities attribute their success to personalized student tracking, academic reinforcement, emotional support, and a firm refusal to write off any student.

In Dimona, four state high schools under the Drora and Darca networks achieved a remarkable 22.5% increase in matriculation rates over a six-year period. At Darca Zinman, graduation rates reached 100% over the past three years, up from 90.7% six years ago. Other schools in the city saw similarly dramatic jumps, with Darca Apelman soaring from 50.7% to 97.6%, and Darca Lehman climbing from 68.4% to 91.8%.

"At school, I feel seen, believed in, and given the opportunity to advance and succeed," said Noa Zarch, a 12th-grade student at Darca Lehman. Students in Dimona also participate extensively in community service and social initiatives, fostering responsibility and mutual aid alongside academic excellence. Netanel Balaicher, another senior at the school, noted that he participates in an advanced excellence program combining physics studies at the Technion alongside personal mentoring.

The Success Recipe in Dimona

School administrators and local officials emphasized that the numbers reflect a systematic and deep-rooted process. Vered Palenbaum, principal of Darca Zinman, highlighted the dedication of the teaching staff who combine uncompromising pedagogical professionalism with personal investment. Dimona Mayor Benny Biton praised the continuous educational work and the prioritization of the school system, which currently boasts a 95.9% overall eligibility rate.

Meanwhile, in Petah Tikva, the Amit Eliraz Yeshigha—named after Eliraz Peretz, the fallen soldier son of Israel Prize laureate Miriam Peretz—saw its matriculation eligibility rate jump by over 20% in the last five years, reaching 94%. The percentage of students receiving high-level Ministry of Education excellence certifications multiplied tenfold, while top-tier mathematics and English scores saw unprecedented growth.

Values and Innovation in Petah Tikva

Rabbi Ofer Aran, head of the institution, attributes the success to the devoted educational team and the inspiring spirit of Miriam Peretz, who regularly visits and encourages the students. The yeshiva integrates unique initiatives, including a flight simulation room where students study physics, mathematics, and geography through aviation simulations, preparing them for leadership, community involvement, and meaningful military service.

Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberger commended the institution's achievements, stating that the impressive milestones prove that dedicated staff and continuous investment can achieve extraordinary excellence while combining academic rigor with strong moral values.
