Jerusalem police and detectives from the Shuafat station, alongside the police canine unit, uncovered a major weapons cache buried deep underground in the Ashariya neighborhood of Beit Hanina, East Jerusalem. Acting on precise intelligence, officers conducted extensive searches at a local property utilizing a specially trained police dog who signaled a suspicious spot in the yard.

Upon excavating the marked area, security forces discovered that the weaponry had been concealed deep underground beneath a thick layer of concrete. After breaking through the concrete blocks and surface, investigators recovered two M16 assault rifles, including one shortened version, three matching magazines, and approximately 927 live 5.56 mm rounds.

All confiscated weaponry was transferred to the Israel Police forensic identification laboratories for further evidence processing. Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and operational measures are underway to track down and arrest the suspects involved in concealing the weapons cache.
