Dyson, renowned globally for its bagless vacuum cleaners, continues to expand its footprint into hair care appliances, air purification, and home robotics. Headquartered in Singapore, the private British company founded by inventor and engineer James Dyson now distributes its products across more than 85 markets worldwide. Guy Turner, a senior engineer and multidisciplinary designer at Dyson's Singapore development center, recently visited Israel to mark the opening of the brand's first flagship store at the Big Fashion Glilot mall in partnership with the Fox-Wizel Group.

In an interview discussing the artificial intelligence revolution, the company's local strategy, and the shifting landscape of household chores, Turner highlighted how modern robotics has evolved significantly over the past five years. While older robotic devices could map rooms and avoid basic obstacles, contemporary models offer genuine environmental understanding and autonomous decision-making.

Advanced Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

At the forefront of this shift is the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot, which utilizes an AI-driven HD camera and green LED illumination to expose hidden dirt and stains. The device recognizes more than 200 household objects, including cables, socks, and everyday clutter, allowing it to dynamically plan its cleaning route. Upon detecting a stubborn stain, the robot adjusts its cleaning parameters in real time and inspects the surface afterward, repeating the cycle up to 15 times until the blemish is fully removed.

Addressing the competitive market, particularly against emerging Chinese manufacturers, Turner emphasized that Dyson's core strength lies in relentless engineering and foundational innovation. Referring to the company's heritage, he noted that James Dyson developed 5,126 failed prototypes before perfecting the first cyclonic vacuum cleaner, a philosophy of perseverance that continues to drive the brand's development of advanced motors, filtration systems, and intelligent robotics.

Expanding Retail Presence and Smart Appliances

The launch of the new flagship store in Israel represents a strategic step after more than 25 years of local market activity. According to Turner, the standalone location is designed to complement existing retail partners by providing customers with a dedicated space to experience the engineering behind the products firsthand and receive professional guidance.

Beyond robotics, Dyson continues to target overlooked daily inconveniences through precision engineering. Turner pointed to the development of the CameraJet electric toothbrush, which integrates a microscopic camera measuring one square millimeter with 100,000 pixels. The device identifies gaps between teeth in real time and performs automated cleaning using a targeted water jet, addressing the reality that nine out of ten people fail to use dental floss daily.
