Security Demands and Flight Cancellations

Following a serious security incident aboard a flydubai flight last week, Israeli authorities initially suspended flights before extending cancellations indefinitely. Meanwhile, Israeli carriers have operated heavily secured rescue flights to repatriate stranded citizens. Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported that the co-pilot in the attempted hijacking sought to disable both engines in addition to overriding flight systems.

The Emiratis feel that the attack is being exploited for political purposes. Israel talks about 'rescue flights,' creating the impression of a nation at war or in crisis, which is not the case.
